Prerequisites

Basic courses (Bachelor's level) in microbiology and cell biology. L’étudiant devra avoir suivi des enseignements de base (niveau Licence) en microbiologie et biologie cellulaire.

Goals

Basic knowledge to understand the links between the intestinal microbiota, the immune system and pathologies in humans. Reading and understanding of Scientific Papers regarding intestinal microbiota; To develop scientific thinking. Connaissances de base indispensables à la compréhension des liens entre microbiote intestinal, système immunitaire et pathologies chez l’homme. Inititiation à l’analyse de publications scientifiques et à la réflexion scientifique.

Content

Cours magistraux
Introduction: digestive functions;
Gut microbiota: tools, structure and function;
Intestinal immune system: general organization, mechanism of action, interactions with the intestinal microbiota, tolerance, immunopathologies of the intestine;
Probiotics, prebiotics and pathologies: definitions, mechanisms of action, examples;
In vitro digestion and fermentation systems - gastrointestinal models

Introduction : rappels sur les fonctions digestives ;
Microbiote intestinal : méthodes d’étude, structure, r?le et fonctionnement de l’écosystème ;
Système immunitaire intestinal : organisation générale, mécanisme d'action, interactions avec le microbiote intestinal, tolérance, immunopathologies de l'intestin ;
Probiotiques, prébiotiques et pathologies : définitions, mécanismes d’action, exemples ;
Systèmes in vitro de digestion et de fermentation.

Travaux Dirigés
Initiation to scientific analysis: know how to interpret, exploit and criticize results; learn how to present them.
Initiation à l’analyse de publications et à la réflexion scientifique : savoir interpréter, exploiter et critiquer des résultats ; apprendre à les présenter à l’oral.

Travaux pratiques
Presentation by students of a scientific paper (small groups)
