Th¨¨mes de Recherche
Le Laboratoire Magmas et Volcans (LMV) est une unit¨¦ mixte de recherche de l¡¯Universit¨¦ Clermont Auvergne (UCA), associ¨¦e au Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS, UMR 6524) et ¨¤ l¡¯Institut de Recherche pour le D¨¦veloppement (IRD, UMR 163). C¡¯est l¡¯un des deux laboratoires de l¡¯Observatoire de Physique du Globe de Clermont-Ferrand (OPGC). Le LMV s¡¯est d¨¦velopp¨¦ autour de trois missions :
Recherche fondamentale : Comprendre l¡¯ensemble des processus magmatiques et volcaniques, depuis les processus profonds au sein du manteau terrestre jusqu¡¯¨¤ l¡¯¨¦ruption en surface ;
Observation p¨¦renne : Surveiller les ph¨¦nom¨¨nes naturels li¨¦s ¨¤ l¡¯activit¨¦ volcanique de notre plan¨¨te, ¨¤ des fins de compr¨¦hension des processus et de pr¨¦vention des risques associ¨¦s ;
Partenariat avec les pays du Sud : Conduire une recherche pour le d¨¦veloppement au service de nos partenaires (Am¨¦rique latine, Asie), au travers de programmes de coop¨¦ration.
En partenariat avec des ¨¦quipes issues de cinq autres laboratoires de l¡¯Universit¨¦ Clermont Auvergne, une ¨¦quipe du BRGM et l¡¯OPGC, le Laboratoire Magmas et Volcans coordonne depuis 2011 le Labex ClerVolc (Centre clermontois de recherche sur le Volcanisme), l¡¯un des laur¨¦ats de la premi¨¨re vague de l¡¯appel ¨¤ projets ? Laboratoires d¡¯Excellence ? du Programme d¡¯Investissements d¡¯Avenir (PIA).
