The tramway (Line A) runs north to south with 35 stops including all the main places in Clermont Ferrand such as the Place de Jaude, Les C¨¦zeaux campus, The place du Premier Mai or the Gabriel Montpied hospital.
Buses are available in the city and there are stops just about everywhere enabling you to get around the city centre and out to other areas which are not on the tramway, such as Le Br¨¦zet, Cournon, Aubi¨¨re, Royat¡
Your T2C ticket works on both the tram and the buses. It costs 1.60€ and is valid for one hour once you have stamped it on the bus or in the tram.
If you intend to use public transport throughout the year, you are advised to take an annual pass which for students under 26 years old gives them a 50% reduction.
Other means of transport
The local authorities and transport organization (SMTC) also provide bicycles for hire. Self-service or for a longer time, this service is easy, practical, cheap and good for the environment. C.velo is adapted to your needs and will get you all over the city.
Taxis are readily available, but compared to many Anglo-Saxon countries, they are considerably more expensive.
Trains (SNCF) run from two stations: one close to the city centre and the other, just outside of town at La Pardieu. This company offers special subscriptions for students such as the ? Carte Avantage Jeune ?.
Aulnat Airport is on the edge of Clermont Ferrand and can be reached from the train stations by taking line n¡ã 6 to Thiers/Saint Etienne and alighting at the ¡°Aulnat-a¨¦roport¡± station. It takes about 8 minutes and costs 2.20€. You can also take the tram (direction Champratel) to the ¡°Mus¨¦e d¡¯art Roger Quillot¡± stop and then take the bus n¡ã 20 towards ¡°Aulnat Exupery¡±.
