Before your departure

Some questions to ask yourself

Here are some tips and questions to consider before you leave or plan to leave :

  • Should I go for a study or internship mobility? Am I ready to leave now?
  • In which degree program will I be enrolled?
  • How many credits do I need to earn abroad to validate my degree here?
  • What courses will I take there? Which university should I choose?
  • Do I have the necessary language skills to go?
  • How can I improve my English? Do I have a sufficient budget?
  • Are my documents up to date?
  • Do I need a passport?
  • Are the dates on my passport valid?
  • Do I need a visa? If so, whom should I contact?
  • United States, Canada: Have I completed my ESTA or eTA?
  • Does my health insurance cover me where I am going (e.g., EHIC)?
  • Where will I live? Who can help me?

Applying for a study mobility

Before taking any other steps, you must meet with the international exchange coordinator in your department/faculty. They will determine whether you can participate in an exchange and under what conditions.

Attention

  • A good level in the language of the host country may be required, as well as a solid academic background, in addition to serious motivation.
  • Your department will first choose the students, and then nominate them to the foreign partners. Selection criteria can vary between faculties and according to the degree validated abroad.
  • Selection processes within your faculty for studying abroad are done in multiple steps, possibly through several campaigns depending on whether the exchange is for the first or second semester. The procedures for study mobility are different from those for internships.
  • The available destinations for study mobility are not the same across all UCA faculties. You can find the list here..
Selection and mobility form

Once your application is accepted by your department, you will need to create an outgoing mobility file online.

The MoveOn form

This form is accessible through your student portal (Scolarit¨¦ > Mobilit¨¦ internationale_Partir ¨¤ l'¨¦tranger).

The MoveON file is mandatory and allows the International Relations and Francophonie Office to validate requests for various financial aids.

Mobility dates

Pay special attention to the mobility dates when filling out the MoveON form. It is essential to check the host university¡¯s website for the academic calendar.

The official dates you provide should include the start of classes (or the orientation week) and the end of exams. Exact dates will be clarified through the attendance certificate you submit to your coordinator.

Preparing your study agreement

A study agreement, also known as a learning agreement, is a contract between the student, their home university, and the host university, outlining the courses the student commits to take and the exams they must pass to earn ECTS credits.

  • Going on an Erasmus mobility? Check our section on the "Online Learning Agreement"
    (under construction)
  • To validate your studies abroad and earn your degree at UCA, you need to earn the same number of credits you would have earned in France, take the corresponding exams at the host university, and, if necessary, any resit exams offered by the host university.
  • If you are selected for study mobility, your academic advisor will help you create your study agreement, which includes finding course equivalencies at the host university.
  • Earning these ECTS credits (30 per semester or 60 per year) will allow you to validate your year upon your return to UCA.
Preparing your Budget : Financial aid

There are many financial aids available.

Upon arrival at your host University

  • Upon arrival at your host university, make sure to send the arrival certificates to your exchange coordinator at UCA. These certificates will allow the validation and payment of the financial aids you applied for. We emphasize the importance of these procedures. You should be proactive and not wait for reminders from the International Relations Office.
  • Important : We communicate with our students abroad via email. Therefore, students on exchange should check their emails regularly.

Upon your return to France

  • Once you return to France, don¡¯t forget to submit the signed attendance certificates again, ensuring the dates are correct and consistent across all documents. Reminder: these dates must be precise and match.
